Alpha Cement loco and wagon reunited

Restoration of the Alpha Cement wagon has been completed by volunteer Dave Bentley and for the first time in who knows how long, was coupled to the locomotive, Fowler Resilient "Peldon" for a few test runs and, of course, for the cameras.

Peldon was built for the Essex Water Authority for use during the construction of the Abberton Reservoir near Colchester and once this work was completed, was sold on to the Alpha Cement Co in Cliffe at Hoo, in North Kent. The locomotive was restored by Dave's father, the late Doug Bentley, work which was completed in 1987.
